Shofar! Polished, decorated with Sterling Silver & Gold Plating, with Olive design Shofar.

Shofar is Size L: 35" - 40" (#50) - Measured along the twist.

Shofar is taken from antilopes after the natural shedding occuring annually.

Please note that we cannot guarantee an exact length, shape or thickness of the shofars. Each one is unique and takes a lot of practice to learn how to blow.
The lenghth of the silver plating will also vary - usually around 9" on the longer part. The shofars pictured here have plating about 15" long but this is no longer available. If you wish a custom made shofar with more silver plating, please contact us at shopisraeltoday@msn.com

In Biblical days, the shofar was used in a variety of ways: The first and most important was to announce the onset of the beginning of the Sabbath and holidays. This was in pre-calendar days when people couldn't always be sure when the festival would begin. It would be used at the coronation of a king, or as a sound to rally to battle. It was used by Gideon (Judges 6 & 7) to confound the enemy, the Midianites, who so outnumbered Gideon's 300 men. It was used by Joshua to bring down the walls of Jericho !

More and more, we find churches incorporating the use of the shofar at the beginning of Sunday services, calling the congregation to prayer and worship. How fitting to use the same instrument with which Jesus was also called to prayer.

The olives are one of the Seven Species indigenous to the Land of Israel. When the Lord brings the children of Israel into the land, he tells them: "For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of ... wheat and barley, of OLIVE OIL and fig trees ..."
The olive branch is as well a symbol of peace, found within the symbol of the Dove of Peace.

Sound the Shofar!
