King David: Poet & Warrior DVD

Born around 1000 BCE, David was the youngest son of Jesse of Bethlehem. A shepherd boy, David leaned survival protecting the family flocks from wild beast. When the L-rd´s favor turned from King Saul, the Prophet Samuel secretly anointed David as the future king of Israel.

With intelligence and charm – but also ruthless ambitious – David at first served Saul as harpist and armor-bearer. Then as the battle with the Philistines went against them, David stepped up to go into single combat against Goliath. Armed only with a sling and his faith in G-d, David slew the giant with a single stone. With this popularity outshining the King´s, Saul sought to kill David, but the lad escaped to the wilderness. Upon Saul´s death, David was publicly anointed – fist as King of Israel, then as King of the united monarchy of Israel and Judah. Seeking a new center for his newly united realm, David captured the hilltop fortress of Zion, brought the Ark of the Covenant there, and made Jerusalem the eternal capital of the Jewish people. After serving G-d and nation for 40 years, David died at the age of 70 "and was buried in the city of David."

Temple in Jerusalem DVD   Price = $49.25

Great and Holy is G-d´s world – and the Land of Israel is the holiest land in His world. In the Land of Israel is the holy city of Jerusalem and inside Jerusalem, the holiest place is the site of the Temple. And the in the heart of the Temple was the Holy of Holies, resting place of the Ark of the Covenant – the footstool of the Almighty.

For more then 350 years the Temple Solomon built stood atop Mount Moriah – until the Babylonians destroyed it in 586 BC, and took the Children of Israel into captivity.

On their return, the Jews worked for 23 years to build another Temple. Centuries later this Second Temple was again rebuilt, by King Herod (37-4 BCE) – and this time the work took 46 years.

Then as the Great Jewish Revolt shook the land, the Roman legions mercilessly broke into the sacred precinct on Tub Av – the 15th day of the month of Av 70 CE – and razed the Holy Temple to the ground.

Today, the Western Wall, the so-called Wailing Wall, is all that remains of the Second Temple. And to this day, Jews around the world pray three times a day for the Temple´s restoration.
